Position:  Crane Operator for Offshore Operations

Description: This position is responsible for conducting lifting and lowering operations offshore utilizing a marine crane installed on Phoenix provided work vessels in support of offshore construction operations. The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe operation of Phoenix and vessel cranes, routine maintenance of cranes, compliance with Phoenix’s safe rigging polices and practices, and training of deck crews in safe rigging and lifting operations.  This position reports to Phoenix’s on-site Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

bulletResponsible for the safe lifting and lowering of project equipment and/or materials from the vessel deck to the seabed and recovering equipment and/or materials from the seabed to the vessel deck
bulletConduct vessel to vessel or vessel to structure operations by strict adherence to pre-approved Phoenix or Client procedures for a specific requirement
bulletResponsible for conducting a pre-lift inspection of the crane and all lifting apparatus
bulletResponsible for reporting and correcting any damage or unsafe condition prior to commencement of lifting operations
bulletResponsible for discontinuing lifting operations should an unsafe condition exist or an unsafe condition develop during lifting operations
bulletConduct routine maintenance as prescribed by the crane manufacturer and submit recommendations to improve the maintenance program
bulletConduct training of rigging crews to ensure safe operations and improve the efficiency of operations
bulletDevelop and administer the training program as approved by the Supervisor
bulletInterface with a variety of Phoenix and Client personnel due to the high visibility of position
bulletThe Crane Operator must conduct him/herself in a professional manner at all times.

Requirements:

bulletMinimum of 3 years of experience in offshore crane operations conducted from oilfield vessels
bulletMust possess a current operator’s certification from an industry approved training program
bulletMust be fluent in English and possess good reading and writing skills
bulletBasic computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
bulletMust be physically fit and able to pass a Company physical for offshore personnel
