Remora 6000 System Pre-positioned in Hawaii Monday, February 4, 2002 -- Washington, DC -- Phoenix International, Inc., (Phoenix) announced today that it has pre-positioned one of its 6000 meter depth capable Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems in Honolulu, Hawaii. The move was made to more cost effectively service Phoenix customers with projects located throughout the Pacific region. The Remora 6000 System includes the vehicle, control and spares/maintenance vans, and a Dynacon launch and recovery unit that integrates a winch with 6,000 meters of fiber optic cable and a self-erecting A-frame. The Remora system was purpose built for compactness to allow for easy, rapid mobilization and demobilization of the equipment. Remora 6000 is a 25 hp, dual manipulator work vehicle supporting projects involving search, mapping, route survey, rigging and recovery, equipment installations, sampling, broadcast quality optical documentation, and depth of burial measurements for cables and pipelines. Phoenix operates and maintains deep ocean ROVs of its own design in support of national and international military and commercial customers. The company also holds prestigious U.S. Navy contracts for worldwide search and ROV operations, submarine rescue, underwater ship repair, and related engineering support services.
