PHOENIX AWARDED FIVE YEAR NAVY CONTRACTThursday, June 12, 2003 -- Washington, DC -- Phoenix International, Inc., (Phoenix) announced today the award of a U.S. Navy five year, worldwide Diving and Diving Related Services contract. Under this contract, Phoenix will provide surface supplied air, mixed gas, and saturation diving services for the primary purpose of conducting underwater maintenance and repairs of ships and structures. Phoenix will also provide engineering, technical, and software support as well as salvage assistance. The contract is in direct support of the Navy’s Office of the Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV). Phoenix has been the incumbent on this competitive contract since 1997. With this prestigious award, the company will continue to provide the Navy with the dry chamber and wet welding expertise necessary to conduct emergent and scheduled repairs to U.S. Navy ships deployed anywhere in the world. Phoenix welder divers operate from self-contained, fly-away, diving and welding support vans, and are in constant readiness in order to respond to a call for immediate mobilization. Waterborne repairs are performed using Phoenix developed, Naval Sea Systems Command approved dry and wet welding procedures. Phoenix maintains two facilities in support of its marine services and engineering operations. A 5-acre waterside facility in Morgan City, LA is the center for all underwater welding, diving, and one-atmosphere diving operations while a 40,000-sq. ft. complex in Landover, MD. supports underwater search, remotely operated vehicle systems, engineering services, and serves as the corporate administrative office.
