Position: Mechanical Engineer
Description:
This position involves the
development, design, and fabrication of underwater systems, tools, and methods
for performing ship and offshore structure inspection, repair, and recovery by
divers and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Work performed supports U.S. Navy
and commercial customers’ operational requirements. The position reports to
Senior Mechanical Engineer or Project Engineer and receives minimal
supervision. The Mechanical Engineer position is located in Largo, MD.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 | Apply knowledge of engineering principals to design products such as
tools, cofferdams, ROV and manned diving system structural and mechanical
systems, and weight handling equipment |
 | Perform detailed design and analyses of piping and structural subsystems |
 | Perform finite element analysis, flexibility and fatigue analysis in
accordance with applicable commercial codes i.e., ASME B31.1 |
 | Supervise work of draftsman |
 | Support design and analyses through life cycle of the product including
conception, definition, build, and operation phases |
 | Conduct quality control of material and processes/procedures |
Requirements:
 |
BS degree in mechanical,
structural, marine or ocean engineering

 |
3-5 years experience in marine
industry preferred
|
 |
Proficient with SolidWorks or
similar 3D solid modeling program
|
 |
Familiar with CosmosWorks or
similar FEA software
|
 |
Knowledgeable in quality
assurance/control
|
 |
Must be able to obtain a US
Government security clearance
|
 |
Must be willing and physically
able to support field operations, inland and offshore, including climbing
ladders, personnel transfer at-sea, able to hold your own body weight, and
carrying/lifting 40 lbs
|
 |
Commercial diving or ROV
experience would be a plus
|
