Position:  Mechanical Technician - LA

Description: The Mechanical Technician will report to the Senior Technician and/or the ROV Supervisor and will participate in the operation, repair and maintenance of the ROV system and its subsystems. The position requires the technician to work in a team environment and to handle assignments independently.  The position is based in Bayou Vista, LA. and may require worldwide travel on an emergency call out basis.  This position will be expected to work safely a minimum of 12-hour a day shifts when on board ships at sea or at a dock and may require work in the shop facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in the Phoenix safety management system to achieve the zero-accident goal

Complies with company policies and safety standards

bullet

Participates in and maintains their training

bullet

Responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) system, the launch and recovery system (Lars) and the other associated subsystems

bullet

Maintains logs, records, and documentation updates

bullet

Pilots and Copilots ROV

bullet

Operates ROV manipulators

bullet

Assembles rigging equipment

bullet

Effectively handles all watch standing requirements of ROV systems

Requirements:

bullet

Associate degree, two (2) years, of formal mechanical and hydraulic training, or equivalent work experience of two (2) years

bullet

Field experience, two (2) years, maintaining and repairing diesel generator sets, hydraulic power and control equipment, manipulators, and hydraulic tools

bullet

Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical and hydraulic schematics

bullet

Familiar with both steel and aluminum welding

bullet

Familiar with hazardous material handling, packaging, and shipping

bullet

Understand the use of hydraulic test sets, flow/pressure meters, and non-destructive testing

bullet

Computer competence in Windows environment

bullet

Ability to carry out tests and assignments with little to no supervision

bullet

Attention to detail

bullet

Good organizational skills

bullet

Team Player

bullet

Understands offshore rigging and safety practices

bullet

Must able to travel worldwide, on short notice for indefinite periods of time

bullet

Must able to walk unassisted and carry 75 pounds

bullet

Must be able to see and/or hear equipment readouts
