Phoenix RECEIVES COMPASS INDUSTRIAL AWARDThursday, October 5, 2006 -- Washington, DC -- Phoenix International, Inc., (Phoenix) is pleased to announce receipt of the prestigious 2006 Compass Industrial Award for outstanding contributions to the advancement of science and engineering of oceanography and marine technology. The award is sponsored by Compass Publications, Inc., publishers of Sea Technology, and independently administered by the Marine Technology Society. Phoenix President, Michael Kutzleb, received the award during the Oceans 2006 MTS / IEEE Conference held 19-21 September in Boston, MA. Selection for award is based on the total contribution of a company to the field of oceanography, marine technology, and undersea defense. Phoenix currently holds the US Navy’s Undersea Operations and Diving and Diving Related Services contracts. Under these respective efforts, Phoenix provides capabilities for conducting underwater search and recovery operations to water depths of 20,000 feet, underwater ship repair services, and supports the search / rescue of disabled submarines. All contracts require an around-the-clock emergency call-out response. Phoenix also conducts underwater inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Gulf of Mexico offshore oil & gas infrastructure damaged by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The company’s engineering division is presently engaged in developing unique underwater systems whose designs rely on company proprietary research and development in pressure tolerant electronics, and high energy density battery and battery management systems.
