Position:  Technical Writer

Description: The primary role of the Technical Writer is to produce quality project documentation through writing, editing, composition, and format preparation of large amounts of complex data to achieve clear and readable technical manuals and reports.   The writing of technical documents shall be proactive as the project is performed.  The writer will create drawings, capture and arrange photographs, and perform numerous other duties.  Assignments can be complex and require coordinated work. This qualified candidate will work independently but will report to the Engineering Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

bulletWrite, edit, and proof reports, manuals, and other documents in support of various engineering projects
bulletServe as a technical editor to assist the engineering staff
bulletFollow project procedures and work directly with the engineering staff to ensure all documentation requirements are met
bulletComply with company policies and safety standards
bulletPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
bulletWork in a team based environment

Requirements:

bulletBachelor’s degree such as communications, journalism, technical writing or related field associated with technical reports generation
bulletMinimum of five years of experience in technical report preparation
bulletExperience with mechanical, electrical and ocean engineering, or commercial salvage and diving operations is desirable
bulletStrong proofreading and editing skills
bulletExcellent communications skills
bulletAbility to convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms
bulletSkilled in the use of computers, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat is required.  Skills in Solidworks, Autocad, or OrCAD are desirable
bulletAbility to work with tight deadlines
bulletMust be able to obtain authorization to operate company vehicles
bulletMust be able to travel internationally if required
bulletMust be able to obtain a US government clearance
