Pressure Tolerant Lithion Ion Batteries

Battery Building process

DESCRIPTION

Phoenix’s proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) is a 3 tier design. Tier 1 in each Phoenix cell provides analogue hardware with micro-second isolation against shorts, protection against overloads, charge control and full monitoring networked to the module. Tier 2, the Module Management System, provides backup protection, and aggregates the cells’ monitoring and control signals reporting on a 485 network. Tier 3 is the battery controller that aggregates all the modules to interact with the system and operator.

CHARACTERISTICS

Lots of Energy
By using very high energy density, large format cells Phoenix batteries give kiloWatts power for days. Modules from 0.5 to 2 kWh can be stacked in series and parallel to make batteries up to 275 VDC and 100s of Watt hours.

Flexible Use and Easy Maintenance
The Phoenix modules come in a range of sizes and can be configured for a wide variety of voltage and power demands. The Phoenix cells are easily replaced as they are plug-n-play and individually cared for by the Phoenix’s Battery Management System (BMS). Phoenix batteries can also run in 1atm or pressure balanced as the cells and BMS are pressure tolerant.

Safe
Phoenix’s batteries have safety electronics built into every cell. Each cell’s safety electronics not only protects against over/under voltage/current and provides robust recovery from faults., Iit also monitors each cell at 0.003 Amp-hour allowing high resolution tracking of changes in cell capacity that indicate developing problems. The Phoenix BMS also charges each cell individually so the battery is balanced every charge.
