Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs)

Phoenix operates and maintains its own fleet of ROVs and those of the U.S. Navy’s Supervisor of Salvage and Diving. The sophistication and capability of these systems ranges from inspection-only ROVs to complex, heavy work systems capable of operating in 6,000 msw (20,000 ft).

Mission Capabilities

Remora III

Phoenix’s Remora III ROV system performs work to water depths of 6,000 msw and was designed and built in-house to meet our unique requirements.  Our ROV personnel were heavily involved in the design of the system, relying on their many years of experience to ensure that the final design met the hazardous requirements of operating in extreme water depths while maximizing the reliability of the system.

xBot® Micro-ROV

Phoenix’s xBot® is a specialized micro-ROV that is characterized by its small footprint, high maneuverability, and low cost.  This inspection and video documentation ROV was specifically designed and built by Phoenix engineers to penetrate hard-to-access or dangerous areas, such as the interior spaces of sunken shipwrecks.  Our xBot® series was made famous by James Cameron, who tasked Phoenix to build four xBot®s for a documentary he produced for Discovery Channel called “The Last Mysteries of Titanic”.

Video & Lighting

Phoenix ROV systems support the latest underwater video and lighting technologies, including HD video and HMI lighting systems.  Constant system evaluation and upgrades ensure that our vehicles are technologically current and that we can continue to meet our customers’ requirements.

Global Operations

Our ROV systems and associated support equipment are pre-positioned in the Mediterranean and Pacific, and on the U.S. East and West Coasts for rapid response to global operational requirements.
