Across the United States there are tens of thousands of dams in operation, making the safety and reliability of these structures of national, state, and local importance. Regularly scheduled inspections and maintenance of these structures can help ensure they remain operational as well as readily identify areas that need to be addressed. To complicate matters, much of a dam’s structure is underwater, thereby requiring experienced diving personnel and specialized resources to perform the work.
